![]() Fortunately, Raycasts collide with MeshColliders so I set up some loops to Raycast along each edge of a cube in both the positive and negative directions (See pic). Unfortunately, this didn’t work because the SweepTest method I was using didn’t register collisions with MeshColliders. The plan was to spawn a voxel, move it to each point in the grid, and if it was colliding with the mesh a voxel would be spawned. This is used as the bounds of our voxelization grid. The 3rd element was a separate box collider that is slightly bigger than the sphere. This is the object we’re going to voxelize For example, in the image below you can see the object I imported to the top left and a simple box in the middle. I have exported it as an obj file and dragged it into the scene, but it is completely off centered compared to other objects. Then I created an object with a sphere mesh and added a mesh collider to it. I am trying to export an object from Magicavoxel to Unity. I started out by creating a prefab with a cube mesh and box collider attached to it. ![]() There was no code accompanying his article, but after reading it I decided it would be fairly straightforward to write my own voxelizer in Unit圓d. He details the method for creating a voxelized grid, checking each part of the grid to see if it intersects part of the mesh, and adding a voxel for each intersection. After doing a quick search I found this article by David Rosen of Wolfire. Voxelizing a mesh in Unity was quite a bit easier than anticipated. Support for Voxel models larger than the traditional 128x128x128.Large Set of Pre-made commands to assist in the creation of voxel art.Full Fledged Voxel Editor with the ability to Add, Edit, Delete and Paint voxels. If you want the exports there is a one time fee. There is a free trial that comes with all the functionality that can be downloaded from there website. Many popular games on the App Store have been developed using Qubicle including Crossy Road and Shooty Skies. This makes it very attractive voxel software for game developers and modelers who plan on importing their voxel models into other 3d softwares. One huge advantage of Qubicle supports a variety of export formats it supports such as FBX, DAE, and OBJ. This color editor automatically keeps track of new colors for you so you don’t have to. One huge example is a virtually unlimited matrix size (size of the model) and easy to use color editor. However unlike MagicaVoxel, Qubicle does have some features in the software you won’t find anywhere else. Similar to MagicaVoxel, it also supports tools for creating and editing voxel models all in a single application. Qubicle is a great alternative voxel editor created by Minddesk for creating voxel models for 2D images and video games. Want to learn how to use Mega Voxels?
